DB Artisan
Database design has many tools and most advanced applications are produced in this domain.
It came in my mind that moving from one database management system to another is not that obvious because Sql is not implemented in the same way everywhere, although very similar.
I started scratching and Xml syntax that could help fill the gap.
The idea is to create an xml language that maps all database management system data type and Sql
syntax to be able to export/import databases from one engine to another. The xml will have a command line tool to generate Sql statements for supported engines.
Hope I’ll get the spare time soon to get my head in that. This could be an invaluable experience on many database engines like Firebird, Postgre Sql and get a deep knowledge on those that I am already familiar with (Mysql , Sql Server, Sqlite)
Qt Dev Day 2010
The Qt developer day is fast approaching. I would like to attend but financially it is not good for me. I hope I could make it one day. The T-shirt chosen is amazing. Unfortunately it is only available for the participants. I think it could have been fantastic to sell them out to anyone because we can’t all participate at the developer day. The 7th annual Qt developer day will be held in Munich (Oct 11-13) and San Francisco (Nov 1-3).
